Prepare test programs with less manual effort

Creating test programs is often one of the most time-consuming steps in design-for-testability workflows. The DFT Preparation Plugin in PCB-Investigator helps engineers plan test accesses in a structured way, optimize coverage, and generate export-ready data for common test systems.

Instead of placing test points manually, you can generate accesses based on rules and refine them afterwards. That reduces repetitive work, lowers the risk of errors, and gives your production team a more reliable starting point for test execution.

Built for ICT and Flying Probe workflows

The plugin supports both ICT Tester (Fixture) and Flying Probe setups. For ICT, automated needle positions can be created using rule-based logic, including minimum distances to neighboring components and between accesses.

For Flying Probe, test points, vias, THT pins, and even SMD pads are available. SMD contacts are created with an offset from the outside to help avoid component damage. In addition, targeted short-circuit tests can be defined using different rules.

A strong test program does not start at the machine. It starts with clean DFT preparation.

More control through component models and coverage insights

Each component can store a test model with parameters such as transistor or potentiometer tests. Through the EasyLogix Part Library, component contours and test models can also be retrieved, which helps accelerate and simplify program generation.

Coverage statistics provide visibility into the quality of the test setup before final export. If needed, you can also prepare entire panels in one go, which is especially useful in production environments where efficiency matters.

  • Rule-based test access generation for ICT and Flying Probe
  • Manual drag-and-drop editing of accesses
  • Component test models and short-circuit tests
  • Coverage statistics for optimization
  • Exports for Seica, Takaya, i3070, Elowerk, and Spea

Designed for real manufacturing workflows

Export formats are tailored to the target machine environment, including Seica data packages, Takaya .ca9 files, and board / board_xy files for i3070. That makes the handoff to native machine software significantly smoother.

If you want to connect DFT planning, test program preparation, and production more tightly, this plugin is worth a look. Less manual work, better coverage, and faster exports can make a measurable difference in daily engineering workflows.
